  3. Eric McLuhan today. Eric has continued that and 
  4. he is really brilliant on the issues of classical 
  5. antiquity and the trivium. And that is McLuhan‚Äôs 
  6. intellectual grounding, this churning of the history 
  7. of the word and how it was applied in various 
  8. fields. And I think that what happened to him is 
  9. that he was fresh from English university with the 
  10. high-level, elite kind of European approach to 
  11. literature and criticism. Though he had been made 
  12. aware of I.A. Richards and F.R. Leavis, who were the 
  13. new critics, Richards more on the rhetoric side and 
  14. Leavis more on textual analysis side. But basically,
